Compare Wolff Inferno 2645 100W bronzing bulbs with standard tanning lamps. Learn about brightness, UVB output, and which ESB Avalon replacement lamp fits your needs.
Quick answer
The Wolff Inferno 2645 bronzing bulb delivers a much higher UVB rating than standard bronzing lamps, making it ideal for advanced tanners who want a deep tan quickly, but its shorter lifespan and higher intensity mean it's not for everyone.
What Makes the Wolff Inferno 2645 Different?
The Wolff Inferno 2645 is a 100W bronzing lamp with a UVB rating of 11.9 — significantly higher than typical bronzing bulbs, which usually range from 5.0 to 8.0 UVB. This higher UVB output accelerates melanin production, leading to a faster, darker tan in fewer sessions. However, the tradeoff is that the lamp is designed for advanced tanners only. If you have sensitive skin or are new to tanning, the intensity can cause burns or discomfort.
Lamp Life and Replacement Cycle
Standard bronzing bulbs typically last 800 to 1000 hours. The Wolff Inferno 2645 is rated for 1200 hours, which is slightly longer than many standard options. But because it runs hotter, some users find they need to replace them sooner if they notice a drop in intensity. For ESB Avalon 20 and Avalon 16 beds, the Inferno 2645 is a direct replacement, but you should always verify that your bed's ballast can handle the 100W load.
Compatibility and Lead Time
All replacement bulbs sold in the US are built to order, so expect a lead time of 2-4 weeks for any Wolff Inferno 2645 set. This is true for both the ESB Avalon 20 (20-bulb set) and the Avalon 16 (16-bulb set). If you need bulbs quickly, standard bronzing lamps may be more readily available through some distributors, but the Inferno 2645's custom build ensures you get the exact spec for your bed.
Tradeoffs at a Glance
- UVB Intensity: Wolff Inferno 2645: 11.9 UVB. Standard bronzing bulbs: typically 5.0–8.0 UVB. Higher UVB produces faster, darker tans but increases burn risk.
- Lamp Life: Inferno 2645: 1200 hours. Standard bulbs: 800–1000 hours. The Inferno lasts longer on paper, but actual performance depends on usage patterns and bed cooling.
- Build and Lead Time: All US replacement bulbs are built to order with a 2–4 week lead time. Standard bulbs may be stocked by some retailers, but the Inferno 2645 is always custom-made for your specific bed. Plan ahead: order Inferno 2645 bulbs at least a month before you need them.
